Sloan’s Lake, located northwest of Denver, is bounded by Sheridan Blvd. to the west, W. 17th Avenue to the south, Raleigh Street to the east and W. 26th Avenue to the north. While not official, legend has it that in the 1860’s Thomas F. Sloan dug a well that tapped into an aquifer, which overnight flooded the land he was farming, eventually creating the lake. What is known is that the surrounding area was once home to the first amusement park built in Colorado, called Manhattan Beach.

Today, being the second largest park in Denver, and known for its walking/biking trails, tennis courts, fishing/boating and beautiful sunsets, it plays host to the Dragon Boat Festival every July.

The housing in this neighborhood is very diverse, with original Bungalows to new, Post Modern architecture. Average home prices are $259,000 but continues to rise with the area’s gaining popularity. Edgewater, the town just west of the lake has a lot to offer with restaurants and shops. Try Sloans Bar and Grille next time you are in the area!
