Spring 2014 Newsletter

“My husband and I had a bad experience with an agent and were lucky enough to find Jenn and her team from a friend referral after that experience. Jenn was very on top of getting us into place and quickly responded with questions and concerns. She helped us buy our first home in Denver and the process was extremely smooth and painless. We are so thankful we found her and Brixton!”

“Julie is hands down the best realtor in Colorado. She has lived in the major Denver-metro area all her life and truly knows what each of her clients need. We were on a time crunch, and Julie was able to find us the perfect home in the area we wanted for cheaper than we were budgeting. Overall, we have and will continue to reference all our friends and will use her in the future!”

“I just bought a house in the Highlands with the help of Jenn and Christa at Brixton Real Estate. I could not ask for better service than I received from these people. They listened very carefully to what I wanted and then worked hard to find just the right place. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends. Jenn and Christa are the best!”

“Julie is dedicated to providing the very best results for her customers, both with buying and selling properties. Customer oriented, organized, precise and very knowledgeable. Very honest, trustworthy and would suggest her to anyone.”

“This is a first class outfit. Our experience selling with Brixton 18 months ago in a transitional market could not have been better. Excellent communication, advice and service. I have recommended them to several friends/coworkers and our family would not look anywhere else when the time comes to buy another home in Boulder/Denver.”

“Great company to work with if you are in the market for a new home in Denver! I will make sure to refer all of my friends and family to Brixton!!”

Market Update

Buying with Confidence in a Seller’s Market.

A question has come up with our clients so regularly that we want to help more people considering buying a home by answering it.  Are we going to find a home?  The home buying market is wrought with obstacles, and on top of it all the inventory levels right now are so extremely low that people are really questioning the possibility. On top of that concern, people are afraid to list their home in fear of not finding a home to buy.  Which is delaying people from selling, putting a constraint on the market for inventory.  In all of that turmoil, we have good news for buying a home.

In the past few months we’ve been working with buyers who have considered some extreme compromises like buying their rental from their landlord or purchasing a home that does not meet their criteria just to feel safe and have a home.  In each case with our buyers, we work to help them assess the best option for their lives.  Often we find they are willing to make these drastic compromises out of fear.  The current market is too competitive, too expensive, and there are not enough options, so they consider settling.

We  can say confidently that over the past few months the buyers who have stuck with their criteria, held true to market assessments, and been aggressive  with their search have found success.  We are finding homes that fit their criteria, competing with our strategies so they win the contract, following tactics to keep the contract through inspection and appraisal, and our clients are experiencing satisfaction after their purchase rather than regret.

A Little Perspective

Living a Good Life from Jenn Morrison

Looking for a song to consider living a good life, the pondering below goes well with Johnny Cash’s One. Good for the soul!

As we prepare for warmer weather this spring and summer in Colorado I am reminded of many things that help me live a good life.  While reflecting on the concept of this pursuit, it was requested by a few people close to me that sharing this thinking may be helpful organization and structure for others.  So here I will share a few ideas of how I define a good life…

Every human being has their own personal experience in this world.  We encounter our own personal thoughts each morning, overcome specific obstacles in our life each day and we only have ourselves inside our own heads in the midst of triumph and failure.  Although we are all similar in biological structure, we live in our specific experience and we do not experience life alone.  Fundamentally, humans require each other to survive and we are all very similar in our requirements for life, and ultimately we all define what we believe to be a good life.

A good life for all humans requires some harmony between the factors of life that create balance and connection.  Here is a list for you to consider for yourself:

  • Bodily health – how is your health now and where will it be in the future? You are only present in this life as much as your body can be present.
  • Fun– how do you play and where do you release your mind from productive efforts?
  • Family – where do you connect for love and support?
  • Education – what do you want to do and what do you need to learn to achieve it?
  • Money – what you have, how much do you need, plans to grow, save or invest it?
  • Your community – your social experience, membership with others, and concerns for the world around you
  • Career and work – chosen professions and identities that evolve throughout life
  • Spirituality – meaning and purpose for your life and beyond your life
  • Dignity – what you hold for yourself and others

When I think of living a good life, I think of my harmony between all of these factors of life.  I often find gaps in some that are drastically impacting others. Locating gaps for your own life is a great place to start on your journey toward the best life for you.  Then you can move to find help to build up the areas that are out of harmony with your concept of a good life. We are always in the pursuit of the balance. Who do you have in your life helping you with these factors?  Where are your gaps toward feeling good about each?  Where are you helping others?  Surviving and thriving is the transaction of help between humans pursuing a better life.

I believe when we are constantly in this connection of helping and receiving help.  If we are focused on living within our definition and outlook of a good life, offer help to achieve it, we are truly living a good life, if not an extraordinary one.

Part of my good life is living in Colorado, feeling grateful every day for such an amazing environment and life provided here. Please take these words, and a well accompanied background song, and go enjoy!
