Spring 2016 Newsletter

Dear Brixton Friends,

The sun is starting to show it’s lovely face around more often, snow is melting daily, and spirits are higher with a little more fresh air and outdoor activities. Although, Eva and Ellie do enjoy winter, especially the holidays, snow ball fights, baking cookies and cuddling up watching movies. They are finishing pre-school and onto Kindergarten in the fall. They are growing up so fast, but they are still very much in love with being around mom and dad, so we soak up every minute. One of our recent family adventures, they loved, was traveling internationally to Mexico. Getting to use a passport, listen to another language, and see another culture was a hit. If we’re local, the Morrison family is an outdoor crew, so aside from a few ski adventures this year, we are ready for some hiking, kayaking, camping, and all sorts of adventures as spring arrives. We are ready to welcome spring in Colorado!

We hear from many people that it is hard to keep on top of the moving news with the Morrison’s these past few years, the pain of being in the real estate business. We are on the move again, and we really mean it this time, we think this is it! We found our perfect lot in Golden and will be building all summer, hoping to be in the house by the end of the year. Good thing we know the builder well!

Denver is still the #1 place to live in the U.S. and people here are moving up or moving in, keeping Brixton busy as we continue to grow to serve more clients and help keep $$$ in their pockets with buying or selling homes. As the temperature rises, the groundhog calls for an early spring and hiking boots are being dusted off, so too the market heats up with the air outside. Brian and the TK Morrison team is also ready for an amazing year of building with 40 houses starting this year. Let us know if you know of anyone looking to move here, buy a home or sell a home. The real estate market is starting to stabilize. We usually see a seasonal slow down for the holidays, but it started earlier in 2015 and is carrying into 2016. Prices are stabilizing, the global market is impacting consumer confidence, oil and gas prices are still terribly low, and everyone is anticipating interest rates to rise a few times in 2016. The craze of the past two years is starting to be less frantic and more normal, calm and fair. Interest rates are still historically low and Denver has an extremely busy marketplace. You will see the average price point or below homes going very quickly, and higher priced point homes will likely take more days on the market to sell. We see this as a good thing for buyers to gain confidence. Sellers will need to be accurate on value assessments and sales strategies to be effective. Overall, it’s still a great market, and as you can see from the graph below, it’s still crazy cheap to get a loan for a home.

You may have noticed a slightly different looking logo popping up in various emails or Facebook posts. We decided to bring our brand into a more modern look. We are still easily recognizable just a bit fresher! Our logo update as well as some functionality problems with our previous website, lead us to a complete redesign of our website. You will find all the same great advice and tips from our previous site as well as some new functions making your home search a very easy process!

• Adriana is a hardworking and fun loving young lady who loves her family and gives her best to help others.
• Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, (the most beautiful city in the world, says Adriana), she speaks English and Afrikaans fluently. Think of Afrikaans as a mixtures of the Dutch and Flemish languages. She also speaks some Xhosa, (one of the many African native languages). So yes, she does have an accent, but which one do you think?
• She lived in South Africa, Germany, New York, North Carolina, California and Colorado, which impacted that accent some.
• She loves the ocean and seafood, but now finds herself living the shadows of the Rocky Mountains, in the beautiful State of Colorado. So, frozen fish will have to do, for now.
• She loves music and dancing and loves to cook up all sorts of dishes and treats from around the world, for her family and friends.

TK Morrison is in the start of a banner year! They will be starting and finishing most of the upcoming 40 units planned. They have a mix of single family homes, several duplexes and two large multi-unit projects all in various Denver neighborhoods and Golden.

As Brian and Jenn start designing their new home, they are happy to share some of the ideas they are incorporating into what they are calling “The Modern Barn.” The home is a collection of barn textures, fun uses of color, pragmatic design, and historic family comforts.
