Spring 2019 Newsletter

Hello Friends and Famliy of Brixton,
The first quarter of 2019 is almost over, out of the snow and into more sunshine! We ended last year with some top broker records and closed out some large development projects. It is always busy in our work and family life, so we soaked up a celebratory and slow winter season. We love winter for all the activities in the snow, but we also appreciate how it provides time to reflect and refocus for the upcomimg year.
As we look back on the year, our family had a number of adventures. Eva and Ellie are really enjoying school and soccer. They love math and reading in their second grade classes, we may have future engineers and scientists on our hands! Their soccer team, The Rainbow Waffles. also broke through a losing streak to win the championship in their indoor soccer league. We traveled to the UK in the fall and kicked off the year with a trip to San Diego. The girls love traveling and socializing, just like their parents. we are looking forward to more skiing as the winter continues. The girls are cruising down blue ski runs and into the trees with no fear. Before we know it they will be passing us by!
Brixton had a successful year with over $34M in transactions in 2018. A large part of those were final sales of the Bachman Farm and Sunnyside 12 projects. We also bought and sold a ton of homes with great success and happy clients. Read more here about our clients testimonials here: http://www.brixtonrealestate.com
2019 has a number of fun projects ahead. We just opened a new office at 1901 Jackson St in Golden. Watch for a Grand Opening invite coming soon! We are also continuing to help people make smart investments on homes, buy land to build, and sell homes in record time with record pricing. In addition, Brian is exploring a unique project for recreational vehicles in Salida. The land sits on river front two miles from the center of town. Read more at the end of this newsletter.

How to Appeal Your Rising Property Tax Bill

Now is the time to appeal your rising property taxes. Please visit your county’s website for any specific requirements. Here are the general steps to filing an appeal.

  1. The Appeal Period is May 1st through June 1st.
  2. Read and understand the rules of the appeals process on your county assessor’s website.
  3. You should receive a protest form attached to the Notice of Valuation.
  4. There are two ways to file an appeal:
    • You may mail in your written protest by completing your form and sending it to the Assessors office.
    • You could present oral or written objections to the Assessor in person. Keeping in mind to make an appointment.
  5. Research your neighbors homes and what they are paying compared to you.

If you need help determining the comps in your neighborhood, contact Jenn, who would be more than happy to help.

Market Statistics

The real estate market in the Denver Metro Area has been settling into a predictable rhythm in the past six months. We anticipate seasonal price increases in March and April, possibly peaking in May and June as the push for the buying season increases. The homes sales inventory is still drastically behind. What may change with the lower prices and slower buying season as more people may decide to sell. As the market starts to stablize and people may see more opportunities to buy a home in a more realistic and less competitive market, and therefore deciding to sell their current homes will be safe in shopping for a new home.

Brixton Buzz

A huge goal for foreigners coming to the USA, is to become United States citizens! We had the honour of attendig this special ceremony for two people so dear to our hearts, Adriana and Mario Fisher. Their journey started more than 20 years ago when they arrived from South Africa. They never gave up on this dream. It was not always an easy road, but they are proof that it can be done! Congratulations and welcome fellow Americans. Brixton salutes you!
