Dear Brixton Friends,

You have officially kicked off 2014 and we are extremely enthusiastic for you and all the great things to come this year!

Brian and I learned a lot in 2013, success and failure, all in the pursuit of improving and living a better life. Our little toddlers became little ladies and the conversation, learning and excitement around our house is intense and fun. Eva and Ellie give us so much to ponder and laugh at, while also wearing us out with their endless energy. They are ballerinas, tap dancers, artists and drama queens! Next is swimming lessons for our little mermaids, with many more stories sure to come soon!

We will be celebrating 10 years of marriage in 2014! We’ve grown a happy life and an ambitious business in our years together, the gratefulness abounds and we are often amazed at how lucky we are to work with and help so many amazing people. 2014 will bring more opportunities to help and grow!

Brixton set many records last year and we aim to continue taking superior care of our clients while striving to maintain a high quality of life, a seriously fun challenge! TK Morrison Construction currently has 10 single family homes on slate to be built this year and for the first time will break into the multifamily market with a 4-plex row home development in Jefferson Park.

A 12 Month Look Back

As we kick off 2014, we would like to help you get a financial grasp of the current marketplace for a few specific neighborhoods. Denver has seen an average price increase of almost $50,000 since this time last year! At the same time you will also notice that listings are drastically low right now. We anticipate that improving with the seasonal shift this spring, but the inventory is so low it may keep it a seller’s market longer than expected in other areas of the country.

Hot Hood Highlight

Union Station: An Urban Renaissance

Denver has an emerging neighborhood center with the new development of Union Station. If you’ve walked from Riverfront to 16th Street Mall recently you have have noticed the amazing transformation. The transportation hub alone is changing the face of Denver and accessibility around town from Lone Tree to Golden to Boulder to DIA! On top of that wonderful future infrastructure, the core of it all sits at Union Station and it will be the front door to downtown Denver. This creates new opportunities for places to live, shop, play, eat and entertain! Start dreaming, an urban renaissance is happening in Denver!

History:  

  • First built in 1881 by the Union Depot & Railroad Company
  • The original structure was damaged by a fire in 1894, but was rebuilt with a lower roof line and a brand new stone clock tower.
  • In 1914, the clock tower was torn down and replaced with the building’s lower expanded center section we know today.
  • Up until 1958, Union Station had more travelers than Stapleton Airport with many famous passengers from Royalty to Presidents.

Current & Future:

  • In 2001, RTD purchased the site to extend their Light Rail transit system.
  • Also included in the master expansion plan are a commuter rail line station, bus depot and preservation of the Union Station building
  • Outside the station will be new public spaces designed to be a destination and getaway for both those passing through and living in the neighborhood.
    • There will be contemporary art installations, murals and water features dotting the sidewalks.
    • Cafes and retail stores will coexist with the new seasonal farmer’s market.
    • Concerts, festivals, holiday parades, fireworks and picnics can all be enjoyed in the new lawn and courtyard spaces.

 

This new neighborhood will welcome tourists, recharge commuters and give Denver locals a place to shop, dine, explore, play and relax in their own backyard – or just a short commute away.

Get to know Conan Bliss

  • He started working with Brixton in 2011 and was the first broker hired.
  • Currently and for the past 15 years he has owned a number of investment (rental) properties which gives him the ability to offer buyers and sellers down-to-earth, real world insight and experience.
  • Conan enjoys working with investors to build their rental portfolios for long term performance, as well as traditional homebuyers.
  • He believes in diversity of real estate investment to balance out market trends in a variety of locations, and he encourages other investors/buyers to do so as well.
  • Conan has a great work/life balance, and enjoys traveling abroad with his girlfriend for a few months every year.
  • Having grown up in Colorado, he is passionate about the outdoors! Skiing, kayaking, kite-boarding, mountain biking are a few of his favorite outdoor activities.
  • Prior to becoming a real estate professional, Conan worked as a ski instructor, international climbing guide, and residential general contractor.
  • This spring, they will be running rafts for three weeks through the Grand Canyon!
